Senior Authorised Person (SAP)

AIS Utilities, a leading Independent Connections Provider (ICP) in the UK, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to join our dynamic team. As an SAP, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our high voltage (HV) electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and oversee high voltage switching operations up to 132kV, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and industry standards
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement maintenance activities and network improvements in collaboration with various stakeholders
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement effective control measures to mitigate potential hazards
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members during critical operations and projects
  • Oversee the commissioning and operation of electrical plant and equipment within electricity substations
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant legislation, company policies, and National Model Distribution Safety Rules
  • Maintain accurate records of completed works and update documentation as required
  • Support and mentor less experienced team members, including apprentices, to develop their skills and knowledge

Qualifications and Experience

  • Hold valid SSE authorisations as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP)
  • Extensive experience in high voltage electrical systems and switching operations, particularly in the range of 11kV to 132kV
  • Proven track record of working in a similar role within the utility industry or as an HV power contractor
  • HNC in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Thorough understanding of DNO control systems, switching procedures, and outage management
  • Strong knowledge of various overhead line, underground cabling, and substation components/equipment/systems
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS, or other relevant safety qualifications are desirable
